Connecticut, Stamford. Taylor Brothers. Bowers CT-430. Gilt brass. 38 mm. Mint State.，Obverse: Large bust of George Washington, left. Reverse: Heavy green card imprinted in black with eight line advertisement, TAYLOR BROTHERS, / GROCERS, / China, Crockery / AND / GLASS-WARE, / QUINTARDS BLOCK / STAMFORD, / CONN. A striking card with full gilding and intensely lustrous light golden surface on the brass. The heavy card insert has a couple of minuscule marks and an old penciled notation, "100" beneath the firm name. A great piece with crossover interest for Washington collectors, though this rare and interesting format has never been included in standard references on that series. The Bowers plate piece and noted by him as the only one seen.
