VF Details--Improperly Cleaned (NGC).,A satisfying example of this scarce variety with shades of indigo and olive dominating each side. Faint suggestion of hairlines are visible under scrutiny, though these are not distracting to the naked eye. A few old pinscratches are noted in the fields. The obverse die is now in its second use and the vertical crack formed in the O-111 marriage now boldly bisects Liberty behind her ear. The crack at star 11 has faintly progressed about midway into the right field, exhibiting an early state of Tompkins Die Stage 2.,From the Sutton Court Collection of Early Half Dollar Varieties.
