1859 Liberty Seated Silver Dollar. Proof-61 (PCGS). OGH.，This is a pleasing specimen with iridescent lilac-silver and champagne-gold toning to both sides. A reflective finish in the fields is readily evident as the coin rotates under a light, a feature that provides modest, yet appreciable contrast to the satiny texture that engages the devices. Fully struck throughout with a couple of moderate size blemishes scattered about that help to explain the Proof-61 grade from PCGS. Although readily obtainable by early Proof Liberty Seated dollar standards, the 1859 is much scarcer than a mintage of 800 pieces might imply. Numismatic scholars believe that only 450 or so examples were actually distributed to contemporary collectors, the remaining specimens eventually disposed of through melting or, more likely, release into commercial channels.，From the Janet Nakushian Collection.，
