1860 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. MS-63 (PCGS).,A rare and significant offering for the advanced three-dollar gold enthusiast, this is a fully Choice and aesthetically pleasing example of the elusive circulation strike 1860. Satiny orange-rose surfaces are sharply struck in virtually all areas with an uncommonly smooth appearance for the assigned grade. This issue inaugurates a run of low mintage circulation strikes that continues almost without interruption through the end of the three-dollar gold series in 1889. The mintage for the 1860 is a mere 7,036 circulation strikes, survivors of which are seldom offered in any grade. Fewer than 100 Mint State coins are believed extant, and this is one of the nicest examples at the MS-63 level that we can ever recall handling.,From the RSC Collection.,
