1854-O Liberty Head Eagle. Large Date. AU-55 (NGC).，With sharp central definition, this is well produced coin in an 1850s eagle from the New Orleans Mint. Otherwise satiny orange-gold surfaces reveal tinges of semi-reflective brilliance in the protected areas around the devices as the coin dips into a light. Wispy hairlines and hazy silver overtones are noted for accuracy, while an overall lack of sizeable abrasions enhances the coins appeal. Produced using a date logotype intended for the 1854 Liberty Seated silver dollar, the Large Date is by far the scarcer variant of the 1854-O eagle. The combined mintage for this issue is 52,500 pieces, Large Date examples ranking within the top 10 for overall rarity among No Motto eagles from the New Orleans Mint.
