CHINA. Anhwei. Pattern 10 Cash, ND (1902-06). NGC MS-65 BN.CL-AH.02; Duan-0584; CCC-47-1; Y-39.2. EXTREMEL YRARE with only about 20 examples known. Characteristic die break at 11 oclock on the obverse. Elegant rendition of the "Water dragon" with English spelling of province name as "AN-HUI" above, "TEN CASH" below widely spaced; Reverse: Central inscription "Guang Xu yuan bao" (Guangxu era) within beaded border, "An Hui sheng zao" (made in Anhwei province) above, "Mei yuan dang zhi qian shi wen" (Equal to ten Cash) below, Manchu "Boo Wan" at sides. Struck in the style of earlier square hole ten cash with a modern sophistication displaying a beautifully executed "Water Dragon" far more refined than seen on later issues. Sharply struck with every detail fully defined leaving nothing to the imagination. Beautiful smooth chocolate brown patina with iridescent hues amongst the devices that pop out when tilted in the light. Truly and excellent example sure to excite the connoisseur of Chinese copper coins.
