CHINA. Kirin. 20 Cash, ND (1903). PCGS AU-58 Secure Holder.cf.CL-KR.19; Duan-1274; cf.CCC-485; cf.Y-128. "20 CASHES". Upon closer examination under magnification there are signs of re-working the obverse die. The most noticeable of which is that the "2" of "20" is punched over another "2" giving the appearance of "2/2". Another sign is the "E" in "CASHES" is a composite letter that was initially punched as an "I" that had the upper, middle and lower strokes added to make an "E". The clear evidence that the die had been re-worked with particular interest of the "E" shows that this die started out as "CASHIS" and was later modified to "CASHES". Minor planchet defect between 6 oclock and 7 oclock hardly distracting. Otherwise quite attractive with lovely smooth mottled milk chocolate and mocha patina. Very interesting and sure to excite even the most advance of collectors.
